When he made it to the Graveyard, Roland was interested in getting power for himself and would spread rumors about the Admiral to the AWOL teens to get them to hate and fear the Admiral and to disobey his authority. Roland would also try to pick a fight with Connor with the intent of harming him by cornering Risa and threatening to rape her. Roland felt that he can boss around the other AWOLs who were not as confident or strong as him. Despite defending his mother, Roland's mother signed the form to have Roland unwound.Īs an AWOL, Roland wanted to always be the one in control and would become enemies with Connor Lassiter for his dislike for the latter. Roland hated his stepfather for abusing his mother and battered him for his abuse. He was also very patient and capable of composing himself as he provoked Valerie and Zane. Roland showed that he enjoyed manipulating his enemies to gain victories over them.

In high school, Roland began showing how manipulative he can be by provoking a fight with Zane to pin the entire incident on Zane for being the instigator and then severely injuring him as he claimed self-defense. Roland did not know about his father, but did not like his stepfather for his attitude and how he would argue and attack his mother. Roland was interested in overcoming his fears when he was a kid.

Unlike his stepfather, Roland made an effort to conquer his fears and kept his promise to his sister that he would join her after throwing her off the cliff. As a child, Roland was scared of heights and did not want to jump into a body of water too far away.
